What can you do during your stay at Camping La Colombière ?

Welcome to the splendid village of Pesmes, listed as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in France, and the surrounding area! Get ready for a charming getaway, combining heritage, nature and outdoor activities. Here’s an overview of the treasures that surround you!

Pesmes and its historical heritage

Perched on the heights of the Saône, Pesmes is one of the ‘Most Beautiful Villages in France’ and it only takes a few steps to see why. Stroll along its cobbled streets, past stone houses and medieval residences. A must-see is the Château de Pesmes, a masterpiece of the Middle Ages that overlooks the village and offers a breathtaking view over the valley! The guided tour immerses you in the fascinating history of this region, with tales of chivalry and local anecdotes – perfect for nurturing your storytelling soul!

Breathtaking views: the banks of the river Ognon

The Ognon is the little river that flows peacefully at the foot of Pesmes. With its sparkling reflections and lush green banks, it’s the perfect place for a short stroll or a romantic picnic. The stone bridge over the river offers a magnificent view of the village (which you can see from the campsite from the comfort of your pitch), especially at sunset. A real canvas! If you feel like it, you can even hire a canoe for a little trip on the Ognon: the campsite can hire them directly from the site: an ideal outing for the whole family! Well, there’s no question of going down the rapids, but those who enjoy a bit of peace and quiet will appreciate the trip!

Château de Talmay: a historic break

Château de Talmay, located 12 kilometres from the campsite, is a true jewel of classical and medieval architecture. With its elegant facades and majestic 14th-century tower, this château offers visitors a plunge into history, between the refinement of the 18th century and the robustness of the buildings of yesteryear. You’ll also discover the French-style gardens and sublime, well-decorated rooms that add to the charm of the place. Bonus: from the top of the tower, you can enjoy a panoramic view of the surrounding countryside. A great idea for an outing in the fresh air, ideal for keeping the whole family occupied!

Hiking in the Forêt de Chaux: between majestic beech and oak trees

Enjoy a nature outing just 20 minutes from Pesmes! The Chaux forest is one of the largest deciduous forests in the region. The paths wind their way through century-old trees, perfect for cooling off in summer! There are several routes to choose from, ranging from small family trails to more challenging circuits. Along the way, you’ll have the chance to spot charcoal makers’ sheds (old woodworking trades) and maybe even deer or wild boar for the lucky ones! The route can also be completed on a mountain bike, for cycling enthusiasts.

Long live the Comté (and the rest, of course…)

Summer in Pesmes means gastronomy and local festivals. Don’t miss the night market, where local produce, crafts and street performances combine to delight visitors. And of course, here you can celebrate Burgundy-Franche-Comté by sampling the local specialities: charcuterie, comté, Burgundy wines… there’s plenty to enjoy! For a total immersion in the authentic flavours of the region, visit the neighbouring vineyards and indulge in a tasting session!

Charming villages to discover…

There is no shortage of small villages around Pesmes for a day’s exploration. Just a few kilometres away, Champlitte welcomes you with its authentic charm and its Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions. Further afield, Gray will reveal the secrets of its historic centre and its beautiful promenade along the River Saône. Finally, if you’re up for a longer jaunt, Besançon and its famous citadel, a UNESCO World Heritage site, are a must for an escapade full of discoveries. A word of advice? Don’t forget your camera – you’re going to need it!
